Business Systems Office
The Business Systems Office is responsible for having
all University business systems operate in an efficient and effective manner
by placing the appropriate management controls into those business systems
in addition to providing higher education and State of North Carolina reporting
agencies with accurate and relevant data on a timely basis.
Mission
Assist University divisions in the efficient and effective management
of business operations and finance and personnel related areas by providing systems and accounting
services.
Service Responsibilities
The Business Systems Office is responsible
for coordinating all requests for system's enhancements or system replacements
of University business systems. System enhancements-replacements are reviewed
for compliance with regulatory agency rules and generally accepted accounting
principles. Required modifications are then documented for the responsible
University department to make changes. When modification is not feasible
the market place is searched to find a suitable software match. Systems accountants
also assist users in developing operating procedures and in testing new and
modified systems. N.C. Statutes (GS 143-B426.39) require ASU to acquire the
written approval of the Office of the State Controller for any significant
system modifications before the system may be placed in service.
